last night we had a dinner party. our second annual Valentines Dinner. just eight of us from the neighborhood. we have a very social circle in our neck of the woods. and we so enjoy each others company. last year when Julia Child was all the rage we did the Valentines dinner scene from Julie & Julia complete with bœuf bourguignon (and that scene where Julie is laying on the floor in the middle of her kitchen ... well you get the idea). so this year we decided to continue the movie theme fun
with an Italian dinner inspired by another Julia (Roberts). everyone brings a course - and the evening is full (oh so quite literally) of food. drink. and much festivity.so the stage was set.
twinkle lights.
rustic music on the iPod.
chianti. and presto!
we ate. and we drank.
and we were merry.
a good time was had by all.
'one of the very nicest things about life is the way we must regularly stop whatever it is we are doing and devote our attention to eating' ... (and friendship).
