trying to finish my holiday shopping today. I have those few evasive gifts left. the son-in-law. the boy's girlfriend. stocking stuff. odds and ends. finally received the list from darling daughter. thank goodness for Amazon.com and the power of free shipping.
my lists are getting shorter and shorter as the years pass. fewer presents. and it may hint that I find the shopping process drudgery. but in truth, I thoroughly enjoy it. if truth be told, I think it is harder on the list maker than the list receiver. the pressure is on the LM. the LR is delighted, prepared for the task.
so with list in hand, and a few surprises up my sleeve, I will head off into the morning armed and ready. not for battle. but for the joy in giving. and not even so much as the joy of giving. but what I look forward to in return - a thankful hug. a grateful kiss. a smile. the wag of the granddogs tail. all perfect gifts in my book.
'a hug is a great gift - one size fits all, and it's easy to exchange.'
